Wedding Favorites

Happy Friday! I am linking up with Katie again today to share some of my favorite details from our wedding 🙂 My mom and I spent many afternoons leading up to the big day prepping mason jars, wine corks, chalkboards, and burlap all to give Dan and my wedding a beachy-rustic feel. Here are some of my favorite pictures that captured the theme that we worked to create!

Reader Question – Do you enjoy planning themed parties and events?

Have an awesome weekend, y’all!!

Beach Weekend

The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand.

The beach is not only my happy place, it is my therapy. As we pulled into the resort yesterday, windows down, ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’ playing, and water in sight, I felt an authentic happiness, uninhibited by the world.

After checking in, we walked to our favorite restaurant across the street. Dan grabbed the drink menu and we quickly found and ordered our cocktails. I happily decided on rum punch for the evening.

I promised Dan that I would stay up late and was yawning by 8:00. Fail. We stayed at the pool bar for as long as I could keep my eyes open and called it a night. My grandma tendencies continued this morning as I woke to the sun rising.

We headed out for a walk on the beach and checked out the gazebo where we will be getting married.

Before making our way back to Houston, we had brunch at a restaurant overlooking the water. One Peach Bellini and an order of Rustic Cinnamon French Toast later, we were on our way home.

After a weekend of cocktails and all things unhealthy, I am definitely ready to get back on track with my snacks and workouts.

Reader Questions: What is your favorite place for a weekend getaway? What are your favorite snacks during the week?

That Moment

I love the ‘that amazing/exciting/awkward/ridiculous/awesome moment when’ way of describing a situation. Like this week, when I experienced ‘that awkward moment when someone goes in for the handshake and you go in for the hug.’ I could have told you how I instantly felt absurd, wanted to rewind 5 minutes and play it right, thought about apologizing for the hug, and tried to brush it off, but I feel like ‘that awkward moment when’ line pretty much covers it all. So, here it goes.

That amazing moment when you are so proud of your mom. My mom and the other teachers in training at her yoga studio instructed their first class last weekend. She was amazing and completely in her element. I loved seeing how passionate she was about practicing. It was truly inspiring. I did not fall on my mat or make a scene, and I felt like it was a great workout, so I will consider that one a win-win.

That exciting moment when you decide to do something new. The So Fresh and So Clean Challenge and the Beach Body Challenge are kicking my butt in the best way. I have been incorporating Brooke’s workouts into my morning exercise routine, and I am loving it. I invited my friends to join me for a ‘Workout in the Park’ followed by brunch tomorrow. Deck of cards workout, here we come. Continue reading

Give Me The Simple Life

“I got no money in my pockets. I got a hole in my jeans”

Let’s be real, as a mid-20s something, cash isn’t always quite expendable. That being said, I’m not complaining. Over the last couple years, I’ve realized how content I am to live a modest and happy lifestyle. My friends and I rarely go ‘all out’ and find that some of our favorite times end up being while we are sitting on our couches, playing ‘Loaded Questions,’ eating homemade pizza, and discussing life’s most important topics, like who will win ‘The Bachelor,’ and what we want for dessert.

I’ve also found that there happen to be a fair share of affordable options for days and nights out on the town. As the weather warms, my friends and I love to make trips to the beach. We spend the morning making sandwiches and snacks and filling our coolers with drinks and ice. By the time the afternoon rolls around, you can usually find an intense game of sand volleyball or football taking place.

Image

We also have some really cute and quaint shopping areas around us. I love to spend the day window shopping and gathering gift ideas. I am usually able to find a cute bookstore or café in these shopping strands as well, which completes the entire trip. I’m now craving specialty coffee and an afternoon spent reading my new novel.

Some of our best friends just brought home a new dog, meaning that Nola has a lot of puppy play dates in her future. We have our fair share of bars and restaurants around us that allow dogs. Meaning, I can sip a mojito and play fetch at the same time. Score!

ImageLast but not least, I love arcades and bowling. So, I have the same hobbies as a 15 year old boy. Whatever. Dan and I end up spending way too much money for him to win me a new stuffed animal in the claw machine, but otherwise have found this to be a fun and inexpensive way to spend an evening. Image

Reader Question: What is your favorite inexpensive way to spend the day?

I Believe

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. -Audrey Hepburn.

Agreed. This quote has always resonated with me. As I’m sure it has with almost every girl. And although I wouldn’t change anything about Audrey Hepburn’s statement,  I might have a few additions to make.
I believe that life is better by the beach.

I believe that sunsets are proof of God’s perfection.

I believe that family is everything.

I believe in naps. I believe in baking. I believe in pursuing your passions. I believe in better tomorrows. I believe in 6 a.m. workouts. I believe in writing. I believe in long weekends. I believe in gratitude. And of course, I believe that dogs make life better.
