Hello, December

After a weekend filled with delicious food, great company, post it note Pictionary, lots of Dunkin Donuts airport Dunkaccino runs, and of course, pulling all the Christmas decorations out of storage, we are back in Houston and happy to park it on the couch this afternoon. While a full 4 day weekend recap would most definitely turn into a novel length post, I did want to share a couple of my favorite scenes from Thanksgiving this year!

We decided to kick start Thursday with a quick run. And by quick, I mean, 2 steps out the door and 1 wind slap in the face, I was ready to jog my booty back inside. De, Connor, Dan and I managed to successfully complete a loop around the neighborhood and that was more than enough outdoor activity to fill my quota for the weekend. Living in Houston has absolutely made me soft. Props to all who brave the cold on the daily.

The majority of our time in New York was spent laughing at our own sophomoric jokes and discussing scholarly topics, ie: YouTube prank videos and favorite TV series. We also spent a great deal of time heating, eating, and reheating all the amazing holiday dishes.

Dan and I arrived back in Texas yesterday afternoon and were delighted to see that Nola was already in the holiday spirit with her Christmas collar on. Of all her wardrobe pieces, her Christmas collar is hands down my favorite.

As long as Nola was in the holiday spirit, we figured we might as well join her. Our place is officially decorated and I am loving the view as I type.

Your turn! What was the best part of your Thanksgiving weekend? Is anyone else as excited to decorate as I am?!

Today is my dad’s birthday, and considering that he is one of my favorite people on this Earth, I thought it seemed suiting to do a favorites post.

One of my favorite pieces of home décor is the sign that Dan ordered me for Christmas this year. I had pinned something similar on my Pinterest page, and being the clever guy that Dan is, he decided to look there prior to doing his holiday shopping. I absolutely love seeing it when we walk into our place.

One of my favorite desserts to make and eat is puppy chow. I made a couple batches prior to heading out to New York for Thanksgiving. It was easy to carry on the plane and was the perfect between meals and after dinner snack. The only downfall is that I am usually unable to stop myself at 1 or 10 servings.

One of my favorite tops to wear while working out is the GapFit V-neck tee. It is super comfortable and has a great fit. If I am being honest, I also wear this shirt to bed. And to run errands. So, it’s multi-purposeful, nothing wrong with that.

One of my favorite ways to spend an evening is by lounging on the couch, watching a good movie, and having the dogs hang out with me. Of course, friendly tennis ball competition typically plays a part in the night as well.

On a fun side note, Brooke @ Running in Heels nominated me for the Sunshine Award. Her blog is one of my favorites. Thanks, Brooke! I love a good survey and look forward to passing the Sunshine on to others as well!

Reader Question: What are some of your favorite things?

Thanksgiving Week: Time to Travel

I want to run through the halls of my high school. I want to scream at the top of my lungs…

Unbeknownst to me in my last entry, our mini vacation actually begins tomorrow. While I fully intended to work on Wednesday and sprint to the airport midday, my boyfriend had other plans. Plans to drive to the Gulf Coast to stay at my favorite resort for the evening. If you’re wondering if I am excited, just ask the man who rode by on his bicycle and listened to me exclaim the fun news. Just kidding. Maybe. Visions of heated pools, cabanas, sand between my toes, and holiday shopping are already dancing in my head.

This also means that I may have to extend my 8:30 p.m. bedtime tonight to finish all the things on my To Do List. Hello cleaning, laundry, packing, and baking! I’ve semi-joked that my suitcase will break the overhead compartment on our flight to New York, although I’m afraid that there is a slight to moderate possibility of this really happening.

ImageAnd because we all know how much I enjoy “things to look forward to” lists, I’ve included mine for this weekend:

  • QT with Danny Stevie’s side of the family
  • The charades I hope to convince others to play
  • Wining and Dining
  • Eating a little, eating a lot, eating some more, and snacking in between
  • Books, crosswords, and magazines galore
  • Kicking off the holidays NY style!
