Happy Friday! I am linking up with Katie again today to share some of my favorite details from our wedding 🙂 My mom and I spent many afternoons leading up to the big day prepping mason jars, wine corks, chalkboards, and burlap all to give Dan and my wedding a beachy-rustic feel. Here are some of my favorite pictures that captured the theme that we worked to create!
Reader Question – Do you enjoy planning themed parties and events?
Have an awesome weekend, y’all!!
Does the first hour of being awake in the morning seem to go by at rapid speed for anyone else? It feels like the alarm goes off and the next time I look at the clock, it’s 55 minutes later. While today’s first hour was filled with drinking Spark (always first and foremost) brushing teeth, feeding dogs, meditation, and reading emails, the second is devoted to the wonderful wide world of blogging. I’m jumping on the ‘Currently’ boat today (which lovely lady came up with this idea originally?!) All aboard…..
Currently, I am taking the time to practice gratitude. I have a tendency to spend too much time thinking about (read: worrying about) the future. I find that when I can develop a routine of meditating and expressing gratitude, I am better able to live in the present moment and to discover happiness in each day.
Currently, I am dreaming of Summer weather. I looked at our pictures from Cape Cod this morning and must say that I could definitely go for some sunshine, window shopping, quality time, and frozen hot chocolate. Savoring those memories and looking forward to more while living in the moment 🙂
Currently, I am loving this season of Parenthood. Seriously my favorite so far, and that is saying a lot because every season has been amazing. Team Braverman!
Currently, I am craving sweets, sweets, and more sweets. Like, what do I want for breakfast today? Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. Not nutritious enough? Okay, I better go buy some Pop Tarts.
Reader Question – What are you currently reading, dreaming, loving, and craving?!
Since Becky’s coining of the phrase “Treat Yourself Tuesday”, Tuesdays have quickly become one of my favorite days of the week to read blogs. And since today is a cold and rainy one so far, I am more than content to see and vicariously experience the ways that everyone has relaxed, spoiled, and loved this week!
My mom and I took at a trip to the Farmer’s Market this weekend and I treated myself to some new Kombucha flavors. I know that the reviews on Kombucha are mixed, but I love it. Your thoughts? I’m not a big pop drinker, so it’s a great and refreshing alternative for me.
There was also a dog adoption event at the Farmer’s Market. And of course, we had to look. And adopt. Meet the newest member of our family, Kiah!
It has been a crazy couple days around our place and Dan and I have already decided that a King Sized Bed is in our future.
As you can see, I also treated myself over the weekend by skipping the whole putting on makeup and styling my hair. 🙂
Reader Question – How are you spoiling, relaxing, and loving yourself this week?!
Happy Weekend and Happy March! That means spring has to be on its way, right?! I hope that everyone is enjoying their Saturday morning so far! If you ask me, few things are better than waking up at your own leisure on the weekend. It’s the little things in life 🙂 Of course, I still woke up at 5 AM, but I digress…
I wasn’t planning on blogging today but I have had a topic weighing on my mind for a while now and since Dan isn’t awake yet to listen to all my thoughts, I might as well share them here! Last week, I was getting my daily dose of celebrity gossip and came across an article on Chrissy Teigen’s new haircut. Yes, I know you are all impressed by the educational value of the articles I read. The bottom of the article prompted readers to give their opinion on her new hairstyle.
I am not kidding you when I say that my mouth dropped open while I read the comments. I don’t know what it is about being able to anonymously share whatever mean (and that’s an understatement) thoughts that come to mind, but I was seriously appalled. I’ve never understood bullying and cyber bullying has become an extreme to that in many ways.
Something has to change. In The Gifts of Imperfection, Brené Brown writes that “cruelty is never brave – it’s mostly cheap and easy, especially in today’s culture.” Be brave.
Hey y’all! Being that I am back in Texas and that today is, in fact, Go Texan Day in Houston, it felt appropriate to begin my post with a y’all. It’s also Friday, which of course brings its own kind of awesome with it. I am excited to be linking up with Katie again this week to share some of my Friday favorites from our trip to Florida!
A trip out of town means new restaurants and amazing eats. You can always count on me to pull out my iPhone and start taking pictures of dinner and dessert before a bite is taken. Unless I am on the verge of hangriness, in which case, pictures are only an afterthought.
Another Florida favorite was the awesome mini golf course. It’s difficult for me to find the words to convey just how much I love mini golf. It’s been a couple years since I last played, so I was giddy the entire time.
While Dan worked during the days, I did as much poolside reading as possible. I am currently in the middle of The Gifts of Imperfection and cannot even tell you how many lines are highlighted. It will absolutely be a read and read again book for me, full of lightbulb moments. I wanted to share one of my favorite pieces so far – “Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we’re very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It’s as ifwe’ve divided the world into “those who offer help” and “those who need help”. The truth is that we are both.”
And with that, I am off to yoga, another one of my favorites! TGIF!
